President Vladimir Putin is pleased that in recent years the country has turned from a major buyer of grain to a major exporter.
"The Soviet Union has always been a buyer of grain, we have been one of the largest buyers of wheat. I would like to note that now Russia is the largest supplier of wheat to the world market, we are in the lead," the head of state said at the annual big press conference.
"We have surpassed both the United States and Canada."
