Oct. 28 – Grain Harvest Reaches 121.5 m mt

 Agribusiness management bodies of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation have updated the current operational data on harvest progress. Grains and pulses were harvested from 44.5 million hectares or 95.1% of the planted area (in 2018 – 43.7 million hectares), 121.5 million tons of grain were produced with yield of 27.3 centners per hectare compared with harvested production at 113.1 million tons with yield of 25.9 centners per hectare in the same period last year.

 In particular, wheat was harvested from 27.5 million hectares or 97.9% of the planted area (26.2 million hectares in 2018), 77.5 million tons of grain were produced against 73.2 million tons in 2018 with yields of 28.2 centners per hectare and 27.9 centners per hectare, respectively. 8.5 million hectares of the area under barley (96.5%) were harvested. Production reached 21.5 million tons with yield of 25.3 centners per hectare. In 2018, barley crop had reached 17.6 million tons with area of 7.8 million hectares and yield of 22.4 centners per hectare. Corn for grain was harvested from an area of 1.7 million hectares or 67% of the planted area, 10.3 million tons were produced (8.8 million tons in 2018) with yield of 59.5 centners per hectare this year and 47.6 centners per hectare in 2018. 172.8 thousand hectares of rice area (89%)  were combined compared with 160.9 thousand hectares in 2018, 1.16 million tons were produced (1.08 million tons in 2018) with yields of 67.4 centners per hectare compared with 67.2 centners per hectare in 2018.

 Flaxseed was harvested from 43 thousand hectares, or 85% of the planted area (in 2018 – 41.6 thousand hectares).

 Sunflower was harvested from 6.9 million hectares or 81.7% of the planted area. Production was estimated at 12.9 million tons (10.6 million tons in 2018) with yield of 18.6 centners per hectare (and 16 centners per hectare last year).

 Soybean was harvested from 2.3 million hectares or 77.5% of the planted area (2.2 million hectares in 2018), 4 million tons were produced (in 2018 – 3.5 million tons) with yield of 17. 1 centners per hectare (in 2018 – 15.8 centners per hectare).

 Rapeseed was harvested from 1.4 million hectares or 88.6% of the planted area, harvested production was estimated at 2.2 million tons of seeds (2.1 million tons in 2018) with yields of 15.7 centners per hectare this year and 14.3 centners per hectare at the same period last year.

 Winter planting is 101.6% complete, the 2019 planted area is estimated at 17.8 million hectares compared with 17.5 million hectares last year.
