Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Maxim Uvaidov took part in the 22nd meeting of the Russian-Vietnamese Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.

According to Maxim Uvaidov, the volume of mutual trade in agricultural products between our countries in 2018 increased by 40% compared to 2017 and amounted to more than $1 billion. Despite the fact that in January-September 2019, there was a negative dynamic in the agricultural trade due to a decrease in Russian grain exports, the efforts of the Vietnamese members of the Commission helped to resume supplies of the Russian wheat.

By October 2019, more than half a million tons of grain had already been shipped to Vietnam. The parties agreed on enhanced phytosanitary surveillance of lots of wheat.

In addition, the Russian side has begun supplying frozen poultry meat to Vietnam. Three Russian suppliers have been certified, negotiations are underway to expand the list of exporters. Certificates for milk and dairy products are pending.

In conclusion, Maxim Uvaidov noted the positive development of the Russian-Vietnamese agricultural liaising, which among other things includes investment projects such as a joint project of dairy farming and milk processing with the Vietnamese TH True Milk in Moscow region.
