The Federal Freight Introduces a New Technology on Grain Transportation

 Federal Freight JSC has developed a new container for the transportation of bulk cargoes, primarily cargoes of grains. Tests of the new loading technology using a prototype container were carried out in October 2019 at the station Karbyshevo1 of the West Siberian Railway of the Omsk region. The TFTPO and the trader "Omsk Food" were the participants, the press service of Federal Freight JSC reported.

 The local shortage of specialized rolling stock and the limitation of port capacities during the peak shipping period motivate not only grain producers and traders, but also transport companies to search for new solutions for the efficient transportation of crops, said Viktor Voronovich, the Director General of the Federal Freight JSC.

 “After certification of the container and approval of local loading specifications, we jointly with the West Siberian Railway will provide to shippers of the region a comprehensive service for grain transportation, including containers on the company's universal fitting platforms with stops,” the head of Federal Freight JSC emphasized.

  The design of the container provides all the necessary requirements for transportation by rail. The container, unlike the standard ones, equipped with the front doorway and top hatches, makes it possible to load grain at the elevator. Side-mounted unloading hatches and an inclined inner "prism" provides for the unloading grain to standard receivers without the use of air pumps, including without removing the container from a track or railway platform.

 As Gudok reported earlier, there were no grain wagons in the Federal Freight’s wagon fleet, and the company transported grain in open wagons with special fitting. Federal Freight Joint-Stock Company, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, is one of the largest freight railway operators in Russia, included in TOP 3 of INFOLine’s RAIL RUSSIA TOP operators .

 The company's main business is the provision of rolling stock for the transportation of goods and freight forwarding services. As of 11/05/2019, a toal wagon fleet of the Federal Freight JSC amounted to 136.2 thousand units of rolling stock. The company has 15 branches and transport service agencies, as well as representative offices in Moscow and the Republic of Kazakhstan, working within the Russian railway system.
