November 11. Russian Growers Harvest 124.3 Million Tons of Grain

 The agribusiness management bodies of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation have updated the crop progress report.

 By November 11, 2019 production of grains and pulses had reached 124.3 million tons compared with 115.1 million tons last year, with yield of 27.7 centners per hectare vs. 26 centners per hectare in 2018. The area of 44.9 million hectares accounted for 96.1% of the total planted area, compared with 44.3 million hectares at the same time last year.

 Of these total, wheat was harvested from 27.5 million hectares (98% of the planted area) vs. 26.3 million hectares in 2018, 77.7 million tons of grain were produced vs. 73.4 million tons in 2018 with yields of 28.2 centners per hectare this year and 27.9 centners per hectare, respectively, in 2018. Barley area reached 8.5 million hectares (96.6% of the planted area) vs. 7.9 million hectares last year, production totaled 21.5 million tons vs. 17.7 million tons in 2018 with yield of 25.3 centners per hectare vs. 22.5 centners per hectare in 2018. 12.7 million tons of corn for grain were harvested with yield of 60.5 centners per hectare vs. 49.1 centners per hectare in 2018 and area of 2.1 million hectares (81.5% of the planted area) vs. 2.1 million hectares last year. Rice harvested area totaled 186.8 thousand hectares (96.3% of the planted area) vs. 171.5 thousand hectares last year. Production reached 1.2 million tons of grain vs. 1.1 million tons in 2018 with yield of 65.6 centners per hectare vs. 65 centners per hectare last year.

 Sugar beets were harvested from 1.1 million hectares (95.8% of the planted area) vs. 1.1 million hectares in 2018, 51.3 million tons were collected vs. 40.4 million tons last year with yield of 467.9 centners per hectare vs. 373.2 centners per hectare in 2018.

 Flaxseed was harvested from 44.9 thousand hectares (88.8% of the planted area) vs. 41.8 thousand hectares in 2018.

 Sunflower harvested production reached 14.6 million tons with with yield of 18.4 centners per hectare and area of 7.9 million hectares (93.2% of hectares planted to sunflower). In 2018 sunflower production was pegged at 11.7 million tons with yield of 15.8 centners per hectare. 2018 sunflower area reached 7.4 million hectares.

 Soybean was harvested from 2.7 million hectares (87.2% of the planted area) vs. 2.5 million hectares in 2018, 4.4 million tons of soybeans were produced vs. 3.9 million tons in 2018 with yield of 16.4 centners per hectare vs. 15.3 centners per hectare in 2018.

 Rapeseed area reached 1.4 million hectares (90.7% of hectares planted to rapeseed) vs. 1.5 million hectares in 2018, 2.2 million tons were produced with yield of 15.7 centners per hectare. 2.1 million tons of rapeseed with yield of 14.3 centners per hectare were harvested in the same period last year.

 Russian agricultural organizations and farms harvested 7.1 million tons of potatoes with yield of 254.8 centners per hectare and area of 280.1 thousand hectares (92.7% of the planted area). 2018 area reached 279.6 thousand hectares, harvested production totaled 6.6 million tons of potatoes with yield of 254.8 centners per hectare vs. 234.3 centners per hectare last year.

 Vegetables were harvested from 165.1 thousand hectares (89.7% of the cultivated area) vs. 144.4 thousand hectares last year, 4.7 million tons were produced vs. 3.6 million tons in 2018 with yields of 283.8 centners per hectare this year and 246.8 centners per hectare in 2018.

 Winter crops planting was 103.3% complete on an area of 18.1 million hectares compared with 17.6 million hectraes at the same time last year.
