The Baltic Countries Top Exports of European Soft Wheat

In the 2019/20 season, EU cereal exports to all countries were up 61% from 2018/19 and up 60% from last week. The cereal export volume reached 21.489 million tons. Total cereals imports fell down by 4% from the last season but rose by 3% from last week and amounted to 12.767 million tons, the agn. Grain On-Line reported citing the EU OJC.

EU countries exported 13.401 million tons of soft wheat, up 67% from the same period last season and up 66% from last week.

Below are the three leading countries that provided the largest share in wheat export in the middle of the season:

• France (30.3%),
• Romania (21.6%),
• the Baltic countries: Latvia and Lithuania (17%).

Soft wheat imports amounted to 1.199 million tons, down 48% from last season and down 49% from last week.

EU exported to third countries 3.748 million tons of feed barley, up 49% from the same date last season and up 50% from the previous week.

Below are the three leading countries that provided the largest share in barley export:

• France (40.4%),
• Romania (18.7%),
• Germany (16.3%).

Barley imports amounted to 491,252 thousand tons, up 398% from the same time in 2018/19 season (up 399% from last week).

EU corn exports reached 2.028 million tons, up 148% from the same time in the 2018/19 season (up 137% from last week). Corn imports amounted to 10.208 million tons, up 2% from the same period in the 2018/19 season (up 4% from last week).
